Hearing
loss is a most serious impairment and is a concern
of the Wisconsin Lions. The Lions have established a
partnership between hearing professionals and
hearing aid manufactures to help those with hearing
problems. Used hearing aids are collected and used
as credit for the purchase of new aids. The new aids
are then distributed to those in need. This
distribution is accomplished with the help of
hearing professionals. Recipients of these aids must
qualify financially.
The
Wisconsin Lions Foundation purchased 135 hearing
aids for individuals in the 2005-2006 fiscal year
and recycled 4260.
Each year this number increases. With help from
more then 100 generous hearing professionals
throughout Wisconsin, the Hearing Program can
provide assistance throughout the entire state for
individuals who are in need of a hearing aid(s).
